Legislative Work

The Office of the Honorable is working tirelessly to fullfill and accomplish the mandate of the harper people through continuous & excellent legislative work;  below are note-worthy achievement in the area of Legislative Work;

FROM 2018 - 2019

  1. Introduced the Liberia Electoral Court Bill. The ACT is in committee room awaiting constitution referendum.

  2. Introduced the President Interaction Proceedings with the House of Representatives. The Proceedings is besieged by the Speaker of the House.

  3. Wrote several communications to the honorable house bringing their attention to the following issues:

    • Bridge teachers go-slow action in Maryland County.

    • Consistent fluctuating outage of network coverage in Maryland County. Lonestar Cell was summoned and wrote a promissory letter to improve network in Maryland County and has done so.

    • Call for the report of the Special Task Force commissioned by President Weah to retrieve government vehicles.

  4. Release of Tubman University vehicle from the GSA.

  5. Invited the management of Caterina to explain reasons why the ship delayed in transporting goods to Harper. Requested the management to make announcement of their challenges on Radio Phoenix.

  6. Interceded in the resolution of the nurses strike action for their names to be restored on salary and benefits matters 

  7. Introduced the bill for the establishment Stella Maris Polytechnic University. The instrument has been passed in law by the Liberian Legislature.

  8. Wrote several communications to the honorable house bringing their attention to the following issues:

  9. The closure of the Midwifery School in Zwedru due to lack of government support.

  10. “Daily Sessions of the House of Representatives shall be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week from the hours of 10:00am to 12:00pm and from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at which time roll call and votes are taken, while Mondays and Wednesdays are set aside for Committees meetings and Fridays to be observed for constituency business.”

  11. The too many inexplicable, bewildering and unrestricted motor vehicles passing around in Monrovia and its environs with sirens. The Police Director was summoned to remedy the situation.

  12. Made a Press Release and two suspects arrested in connection with the death of a constituent, 16 years old Lisa Wesley, who died in fosterage and the body was buried without information to any relative. Police investigation proved she died from rupture appendicitis.

  13. Wrote a letter to confirm that I have carefully reviewed Bridge proposal for a new national program with the Ministry of Education. The new program began on 1st September 2019.

  14. Met with the Chinese Ambassador and occasioned a moment of conversation on behalf of my constituents. Education opportunities may emerge in March 2020.

  15. Travel to London on a delegation to reestablish bilateral parliamentary relationship between Liberia and Great Britain. The visit made the acceptance of Great Britain to agree to administer the ITELS

  16. Travel to the USA to present Harper District Strategic Plan to the National Association of Maryland County Associations from Liberia – NAMCAL

FROM 2020 - 2023

  1. Advocacy for 2 transformers installed in Harper

  2. Wrote several communications to the honorable house bringing their attention to the following issues:

    • Unik explorer exploitation of Marylanders

    • Invitation of NIR to the HOR plenary

    • Helped more than 20 citizens obtain National passport

    • Request for printing the ACT TO ESTABLISH USE OF THE WHITE CANE TO SAFEGUARD THE RIGHTS OF THE BLIND TO PUBLIC FACILITIES IN LIBERIA

    • Invitation of LEC to HOR to address fire outbreaks on electric poles and homes

    • Consistent fluctuating outage of network coverage in Maryland County. Lonestar Cell was summoned and wrote a promissory letter to improve network in Maryland County.

  3. Advocacy for WASSCE to administer 2021 re-sitters’ exam in Harper

  4. Advocacy for the release of WASSCE re-sitters’ results for Harper

  5. Advocacy for the payroll restoration of people in MIA and Immigration

  6. Chairman on Committee for the investigation at CARI

  7. Chairman on the committee on fact finding mission to AcelorMittal in Yekepa, Nimba County

  8. Installed as Board Member for the Regional Referral Hospital in Tappita

  9. Legislations: Prohibition and Prevention of Human Sacrifice Law, Equal work Equal pay Law, Child Trafficking Law, Ratified the C100 labor law, Child Labor Law

  10. Visit to the District: February 14 – March 8, April 21 – May 3, September 13 – 20, October 7 – October 23

  11. District Chiefs Meeting in Middle Town on May 1, 2021 

    • Power to the chiefs

    • Donation of flags (Country & County)

    • Donation of phones

  12. Cash support for the Celebration of Opening New Half Graway Town

  13. Musical instrument set donated to churches

  14. Visited the district 4 times (January, March, September and November/December)

  15. Completed the Maryland County Business brochure. Working in collaboration with the Liberian Consulate for the investment meeting to be launched next year in Minnesota

  16. Visited the district 5 times

  17. Constructed the Harper District Representative website (www.harperdistrictoffice.com now changed tp www.pmikejurry.com)

  18. Advocated for 2 transformers from LEC Monrovia

  19. Participated in the County Development Fund assembly

  20. Opening of a home office

  21. Compilation of the Harper District Strategic Plan

  22. Architectural designs of Youth Center and Primary School made

  23. Identified the construction of a youth center in Hoffman Station and is now awaiting government to begin

  24. Visited the district 4 times

  25. Constructed the Harper District Representative website
