|My name is P. Mike Jurry and I was born at the J. J. Dossen Memorial Hospital on 14th January 1966 in Harper, Maryland County. I still live in Harper, Maryland County and I work as Executive Director for the Catholic charity call Caritas Development Cape Palmas, the social and development arm of the Catholic Church in Southeast Liberia.
I have served the people of Harper District in many disciplines. I started my career as a volunteer and worked in many communities in the county. I served as a trainer in trauma counseling, peace-building, and reconciliation for several years during the war, both in Liberia and Ivory Coast – to ensure our people live in unity. I trained many of the trauma counselors we have around today in the county. I worked as a teacher of mathematics and chemistry at the Fatima High School (1992 – 1994). I served as Education Secretary for the Diocese of Cape Palmas (1997 – 2001), when I was responsible for coordination, supervision, administration and management of the Catholic school system.
